Families First Program at
the Bethlehem Inn
The first decade of the 21st century has been an economically tumultuous time for the nation and for Central Oregon. Families have been hit hard and many desperately struggle to hold on. Families with children represent the fasting growing segment of the homeless population in Jefferson, Crook and Deschutes counties.
The Bethlehem Inn is able to offer emergency shelter, food, clothing and access to community services to families through our Families First Program. With a single staff member dedicated to intensive case management, the goal is to find a positive path for families to move forward.
We offer five units capable of housing parents with minor children. Even if traveling with their family, children over the age of 18 will be housed with the single adults. School-aged children are transported to school by the public school bus and there is a nice play structure on the premises for the younger ones. Families are served their meals before the adult residents and eat in their own dining area in the family housing area.
In keeping with the Inn's rules and regulations, both urinalysis and breathalyzer tests are required. To see the Rules and Regulations, click here.
Due to health and safety regulations, pets cannot be accommodated at the shelter.
The length of time a family may stay at the Bethlehem Inn is determined by the individual needs of the family.
